Project Description
Root Canal Therapy
Root Canal treatment is unavoidable when the nerve or blood supply of the tooth is infected. The infection can spread through the root canal system of the tooth. The nerve can become infected through tooth decay, leaking fillings, periodontal disease or injury and if not treated will very often lead to an abscess.
Root Canal Therapy is recommended in instances where an abscess becomes visible. This is a sign that there is damage to the tooth’s pulp. This infection is generally a result of a deep cavity or a cracked tooth in which the pulp has become exposed to bacteria. If the pulp is damaged beyond repair it essentially means that the tooth has died.
Therefore root canal therapy is a way to avoid tooth extraction while repairing the aesthetic look of the tooth through dental restorations such as a crown. Root canal therapy cleans out the infected pulp chamber and repairs the damage so the tooth can be saved.
